20th Anniversary of the Enthronement of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

November 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the enthronement of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Elected October 22, 1991 and enthroned on November 2 of the same year, he has served the See of Constantinople and the Orthodox Church faithfully for twenty years. We offer below several items which highlight His All Holiness' ministry over the last twenty years.

2007 Youth Conference

July 11-16, 2007 young men and women from all the Holy Metropolitanates of the Ecumenical Throne from all around the world, from the sister Orthodox Churches, from various Monastic Brotherhoods and Sisterhoods, from other Christian Churches and Confessions, from Orthodox Theological Faculties, Academies, Institutes and Seminaries, from International Ecclesiastical Organizations, Youth Associations and Cultural Institutions, as well as from the local Christian Churches, will participate in this Conference.

2006 Visit of Pope Benedict XVI

His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, spiritual leader of over 300 million Orthodox faithful worldwide, will receive Pope Benedict XVI on November 29 - 30, 2006 at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul

2006 Visit to the United States of America

The visit of His All Holiness to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and specifically the Metropolis of Atlanta, headed by Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, from January 4-8, 2006. Momentous was that this was the first visit of an Ecumenical Patriarch to the Tarpon Springs area for the multitude of festivities associated with the celebration of Epiphany.

2004 Visit to the United States of America

His All Holiness Bartholomew, spiritual leader of over 300 million Orthodox Christians worldwide, made his fifth visit to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America from March 13-19, 2004. He also made his first official pastoral visit to the Metropolis of New Jersey and attended the much anticipated exhibition on "Byzantium: Faith and Power (1261-1557)" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The thirteenth meeting of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church was held from 15 to 23 September 2014 in Amman, Jordan, a city with a long history related to the roots of Christianity.
